Now digital camcorder has become a basic digital product to every home. It is used for travel, recording some important events and so on. But some of its functions are not known to some users. The automatic products are the most popular. But the image or video recorded is not as good as the professional products. But the professional one is more complex to deal with.

Most digital tape camcorders have a 1394 port. Sony calls it i lLnk, while Apple called FireWire. In fact, it is the same thing with different names. Some computers also have 1394 products. In particular, most laptops all have this port. 1394, there are two standards, 1394a (400Mbps) and 1394b (800Mbps). We have a common interface, which is the interface 1394a. Home digital camcorders all have the 1394a, so we only talk about digital camcorders on the main purpose of 1394.

First is for the image acquisition. You can connect the tape recorded by the camcorders to a computer via 1394. The film will be transported to the contents of computer hard drives, often referred to as “collection.” The operation is about 1394 lines by connecting the camcorder to the computer. Then turn on the camera’s power. The computer will automatically find the device, and then control the camcorder through the software, the contents of the camera tapes to digitally capture and transfer to a computer. After collection of files to AVI format, a one-hour video about using hard disk space 13G, can be used to edit or compressed into a DVD format files.

Second is for tape copy. Using the 1394 interface is easy to copy the tape. Just a 1394 cable is to connect two cameras, a camera into the need to copy the original tape, another blank tape into the camera. Two cameras have hit the “Play “(VCR) state, respectively, started playing the camera’s playback and recording cameras REC. it is easy to deal with.

Third is for backup the recording. Backup recording is that when a digital camcorder in the camera recorded, through the 1394 interface to connect with another “backup” camera while recording. Only need a 1394 cable to connect two cameras, such as divided into A and from the host machine B. two cameras are placed in the tape. A machine can be controlled by 1394 B machines and the video signal can be transmitted in digital form to the B machine, at the same time recording. Course A machine can only hold a tape machine to record the B.

In the professional field, there is a hard disk recording system. The camera through the 1394 line and connect the hard disk recording system, the signal will be shot on the camcorder to the hard disk recording system.
